In Christ, I have the Words to Speak

For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.  Matthew 12:34

A late-night phone call pierces through the silence and leaves you speechless.  Test results confirm a diagnosis you have suspected.  A loved one dies. Your marriage comes to an end or your finances have plummeted. Dire situations like these create an urgency and you cry out, “Lord, save me!”

It’s the shortest prayer in the Bible, but one that received immediate results.  No doubt there have been times in your life that you have felt as though you were drowning in your circumstances. What you speak to those circumstances greatly affects the outcome.

The words you speak in crucial moments have the power to keep your head above water or pull you under. Speaking God’s Word and meditating on His promises are the life preservers that will bring you through and set your feet once again on solid ground.

Whatever may come in your life, God has counseled you not to fear, because He is with you; not be dismayed (discouraged); because He is your God.  He will strengthen you and help you;  He will uphold you with His righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10)

Instead of worrying about and rehearsing negative outcomes in your mind, speak and meditate on God’s Word.  You will reap the fruit of the words you speak, so speak life, speak truth, speak hope and speak God’s promises.  In Christ, you have the words to speak that will give you the courage and faith to face life’s challenges with hope and peace.
